Hematology-Oncology

“My daily mission is to craft a patient-centered experience that is tailored to the unique needs and preferences of each person in my care.”

— Kait

What do you value about your work?

I chose hematology-oncology because it is incredibly fulfilling to be there for patients who are going through tough times and to make a real difference in their lives. It's not just about having medical expertise, but also about being compassionate while guiding patients and their families through their experience. There is nothing quite like the feeling of bringing comfort and support to people when they need it most.

How have you been personally impacted by cancer, and how has this informed how you provide care?

My aunt battled multiple myeloma, and close friends have faced breast cancer. These firsthand experiences have reinforced my fundamental approach to patient care: Treat each patient as a family member. I’ve come to understand that every patient’s experience is unique and a road with twists and turns. But everyone benefits from unwavering support. Being there during their highs and lows can be invaluable to someone facing health challenges.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
