Our headquarters in Seattle is on a beautiful 15-acre campus with state-of-the-art facilities in the heart of the city, overlooking scenic Lake Union and with views of the Space Needle and the Olympic Mountains. Fred Hutch anchors a flourishing neighborhood that has become a major hub for life sciences research organizations.
The world-class UCI-Fred Hutch Cancer Centre in Kampala is the cornerstone of our work in Global Oncology. Opened in 2015, the three-story, 25,000-square-foot facility on the edge of the Uganda Cancer Institute campus can serve up to 16,000 patients a year and houses research, training, clinical care and conference facilities. Our research in Uganda focuses on discovering, understanding and ultimately preventing infection-related cancers, which are contributing to escalating cancer rates in sub-Saharan Africa and many low- and middle-income countries.
Fred Hutch’s lab in Cape Town, South Africa, is one of the most advanced research facilities on the African continent. The 10,000-square-foot lab opened in 2013 and is helping to accelerate groundbreaking efforts by the Fred Hutch–led HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) to develop an HIV vaccine. The lab is in the sparkling Wembley Square development in the City Bowl area, with Table Mountain serving as a dramatic backdrop. It is surrounded by shops, restaurants and hotels and is within walking distance of many major attractions.
