It’s Blue Friday in Seattle – and that includes the Fred Hutch campus.

More than a hundred Seattle Seahawks fans donned their jerseys, hats and other gear and gathered on the roof of the Arnold Building on Friday afternoon to show off their home-team pride.

Earlier in the week, Fred Hutch’s facilities team hung a 12th Man flag on the south-facing side of Yale Building, which overlooks the Mercer Street exit. The flag was generously loaned out by the Seattle Seahawks organization.

“About 30,000 cars drive on the Mercer exit each day, and we’re excited to show our support for the Seahawks and draw motorists’ eyes to our campus,” said Rhonda Curry, Fred Hutch’s director of communications.

The Seahawks reached the playoffs after putting up a 13-3 record. Seattle hosts the New Orleans Saints on Saturday at 1:35 p.m. With a win, Seattle will host a game next weekend – the winner of that game will play in the 2014 Super Bowl in New York.
