Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is the recipient of the 2013 South Lake Union (SLU) Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Business award in the large business category. The award was presented Tuesday at the Chamber’s sixth annual breakfast at the Pan Pacific Hotel in downtown Seattle.
“We are honored to be recognized by the South Lake Union Chamber of Commerce. We greatly appreciate the work being done by our neighborhood Chamber and all our fellow members,” said Rhonda Curry, Fred Hutch’s director of communications.
Each year, the award recognizes a business or organization that demonstrates a superb reputation, leadership in their field and involvement in SLU community programs, activities, public affairs, employment and services. “Together we are working to make Seattle even better, and to make SLU one of the very best locations to live, work and play in Seattle,” said Curry.
Past recipients of the award include Vulcan, Seattle BioMed, CB Richard Ellis, PEMCO and REI. Winning organizations are selected by popular votes submitted by those who live and/or work in SLU.
Other award winners recognized Tuesday included the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and Shine – Cancer Specialty Store.
