An 1,800-mile walk for cancer research

Cross country walker Matt Gregory and his goat, Vickie, stopped at the Hutchinson Center Monday, Sept. 13, on their journey down the West Coast. Gregory is making the 1,800-mile trip from his home in Bellingham to Los Angeles to raise money for the Center. When Gregory and goat arrive in Hollywood, he hopes to sell a screenplay he’s written. If he’s successful, he plans to donate the proceeds to the Center.
 
Gregory walks and fundraises to honor his late mother, Carolyn, who was diagnosed with leukemia while pregnant with him. A bone marrow transplant at the Center enabled her to live and raise her boy. Gregory walked from Bellingham to the Florida Keys in 2006, raising $11,000 for the Center in the process.
