Faculty member Dr. Jim Olson will present "Discovering and prioritizing new therapies for pediatric brain tumors," at the next Science Friday, Jan. 19, noon-1 p.m. in Pelton Auditorium. The discussion will focus on how a mouse model of pediatric-brain cancer, combined with studies of brain-cancer cells from children who undergo surgery have provided insight into more effective, less toxic brain-tumor therapies. Olson's Clinical Research Division lab studies pediatric brain tumors, with emphasis on new therapies based on pathways that are shared during the processes of brain development and brain-tumor genesis.
