Community Grants Program

Fred Hutch Cancer Center invites applications for innovative projects to address and improve social determinants of health among underrepresented communities in Washington State (WA), including but not limited to racial, ethnic, physical and mental ability, gender, sexual identity, geographic location, income, and education disparities.

The Community Grants Program supports community capacity to build sustainable cancer prevention programs, research, and other needed projects with communities across WA. This grant is funded by Fred Hutch’s Office of Community Outreach and Engagement (OCOE) and Community Benefit Program.

The Community Grants Program is not currently accepting applications. Please check back in early 2026.

What are the goals?

The goals of this Community Grants Program are to:

  • Address the needs and amplify the strengths of WA communities identified in the Community Health Assessment.
  • Strengthen collaborations between Fred Hutch/University of Washington/Seattle Children’s Cancer Consortium (the Consortium) and community led organizations who support Washington communities.
  • Support the ability of Washington communities and tribes to plan, develop, implement and evaluate programs that meet the specific needs of their communities.

Please see the Request for Applications for priority areas and identified disparities.

Who can apply?

Community-based organizations, non-profit, 501(c)3 organizations, health departments, community clinics, and tribes located in WA are eligible to apply. Services provided through this grant must serve residents in WA. Applicants must have experience working with and in the communities they aim to serve in their proposed grant project.

How to apply?

Applications are submitted through the InfoReady portal and must include:

  • Cover Letter
  • Organization Summary
  • Project Proposal

Every grant applicant has the option to work with a mentor from the Consortium to support with drafting and reviewing a grant proposal.

See link to RFA below for complete application instructions and deadline to request a mentor.

What is the grant amount?

Projects may ask for up to $15,000 total costs (direct + indirect costs).

The application process is competitive, regardless of whether an applicant has received a grant in the past. Funding in subsequent years is never guaranteed.
