Fred Hutch Cancer Center invites applications for innovative projects to address and improve cancer related health and well-being by addressing barriers to care and promoting opportunities for healthier lives. Projects must align with one or more of the following 2025 - 2028 Community Benefit Implementation Plan priorities:
- Access to Care – improving pathways, reducing barriers, and making health services more reachable.
- Socio-economic Drivers of Health – addressing root social and economic factors that affect health outcomes like housing, income, transportation, and education.
- Prevention and Screening – enhancing early detection and health education around cancer prevention through culturally appropriate outreach.
This grant is funded by Fred Hutch’s Office of Community Outreach and Engagement (OCOE) and Community Benefit Program.

Project Examples
Over 59 community grants have been awarded to community-based organizations and Tribes in WA. Past examples include:
- Breast cancer education among African American women
- Evaluation of online tool used to share genetic risk information in families with hereditary cancer syndromes
- Colorectal cancer education material development for Hispanics/Latinos
- Adaptation of evidence-based curriculum on blood pressure for Asian populations
- Exploration of barriers to HPV vaccination among Indigenous populations living in urban areas
- Promoting vaccine education and immunization within refugee and immigrant communities in King, Pierce, & Snohomish Counties
