Medical Oncology

“I care deeply about the people I treat. Cancer carries many different emotions with it that deserve space and understanding. I want to learn about each person so I can understand the best ways to support them and their loved ones.”

— Deborah

How have you been personally impacted by cancer?

Cancer hits very close to home for me. As a result of my own experiences, I know what caregivers can feel, and I have observed the roller coaster of emotions people with cancer can face. These experiences grant me a unique perspective when caring for patients.

I chose to care for people with cancer because I want to provide support during their most vulnerable moments and celebrate during their biggest successes while also providing comprehensive and transparent care.

Do you have any favorite memories of providing care to a patient you’d like to share?

My favorite memories of patients have always been witnessing the journey they take from being admitted to the hospital critically ill to receiving chemotherapy for treatment or control of their disease. I appreciate being a part of this vulnerable process with them and their loved ones.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
