Inaugural IN for the Hutch raises more than $230,000

'Late night cocktail party with a twist' for Innovators Network members and friends at the Four Seasons boosts research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center
All funds raised during the inaugural IN for the Hutch will go toward the Center's Hartwell Innovation Fund for groundbreaking research.

Innovators Network members and friends mingled, danced the night away and raised more than $230,000 for Hutchinson Center breakthrough research at the inaugural IN for the Hutch. Innovators Network is the Center's giving club aimed at those 45 and under.

The event took place Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Four Seasons Hotel Seattle. Billed as a late-night cocktail party with a twist,  the emphasis was on having fun while supporting the Center. Two raffles and silent and live auctions provided opportunities to purchase unique gift items and experiences. Guests who purchased a "Heads or Tails" raffle ticket-for a pair of men's and women's Movado watches-also received bright orange feather boas to wear during the evening.

The Center's Dr. Stan Riddell—who spoke about his lab's work in immunotherapy and the importance of private funding—and cancer patient Trevor Biggs moved guests to dig deep and donate. A portion of the total raised came from a $50,000 matching gift generously provided by the Geiger Family Foundation. All funds will go toward the Center's Hartwell Innovation Fund for groundbreaking research.

The Innovators Network is aimed at emerging leaders and supports cutting-edge, high-reward research projects. Members make annual gifts of $1,000 or more. For more information visit www.fhcrc.org/in.
