Hematology-Oncology

“I love working with people — getting to know them and letting them know I care. If I don’t immediately have the answer, I will do my best to find out.”

— Danielle

What brought you to oncology and to Fred Hutch?

I like connecting with patients while providing education and helping them understand what’s going on with their bodies or their disease.

I had been a physician assistant in other areas of practice when I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. I was treated here, and I felt taken care of on every step of my journey — from the first phone call with my oncologist to the person scheduling my treatments and care. Everyone made me feel like it was going to be OK. I feel like each person here truly cares about patients, and I wanted to contribute.

What do you hope it’s like for a patient to work with you?

I hope patients feel heard and that all issues are being addressed. I want them to feel like the care they are getting makes everything else going on a little bit easier. Sometimes people are scared or nervous and just want a bit of time for someone to listen or explain things. I think taking this time with patients is important.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
