About

Dr. Ruben Raychaudhuri is a board-certified physician and researcher who treats and researches genitourinary cancers at Fred Hutch.

Background

Dr. Raychaudhuri is a medical oncologist who treats patients with prostate, bladder and testicular cancers. He has a particular interest in prostate cancer because of the wide spectrum of disease, ranging from cases that require no treatment to those that need aggressive therapy. This complexity drives his focus on individualized treatment decisions and careful attention to patients’ quality of life.

As a researcher, Dr. Raychaudhuri focuses on translational prostate cancer research, including the development of novel molecularly targeted therapies. His work focuses on epigenetics, early‑phase clinical trials and biomarker validation, with the goal of identifying markers that can help guide more personalized treatment approaches for patients with genitourinary cancers.

Area of Clinical Practice
Genitourinary cancers

“I understand that every person has unique goals, and I am committed to listening and working with you to help achieve your goals in a way that aligns with your values and priorities.”

— Dr. Raychaudhuri

How do you approach patient care?

As a medical oncologist, I aim to bring the most up-to-date research and evidence-based care to ensure you receive the treatment that is best for you. I like to meet patients where they are – different people have different approaches to how they want to receive their medical care. I don't like being a one-size-fits-all kind of doctor.

What is your approach to working with patients on their care plan?

I want to make sure that the treatment I recommend is in line with everyone’s goals of care. Whether patients are focused on quality of life or maximizing intensive treatments, I’m interested in working with patients to understand what they want and tailor their treatment approach based on that.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians and researchers. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.
