Support Our Top Priorities

Healthier lives for every person in every community.

At Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, we are driven by the urgency of our patients, the hope of our community and our passion for discovery to pursue scientific breakthroughs and healthier lives for every person in every community. Supporting our funding priorities, outlined below, will accelerate research and provide more options for people confronting cancer and infectious disease.

Fred Hutch Greatest Need

Your unrestricted gift is the single best way to fuel breakthrough ideas and programs that help patients.

When you choose to give to our unrestricted fund, your gift goes directly to work. It speeds research by allowing scientists to quickly follow where science leads. It allows us to hire the best minds in science and support their most promising ideas. And it advances supportive care programs that patients need to thrive. With your partnership, Fred Hutch will continue to do everything we can, as quickly as we can, to improve and save lives.

Your gift fuels vital work at Fred Hutch.

Cancer Research

People facing cancer deserve better, more tolerable treatments and cures. All of us need new ways to detect cancer early and prevent it altogether. These discoveries are within reach. When you give to our Cancer Research fund, you support Fred Hutch’s core mission to prevent, detect, treat and cure cancer.

Diversity, Equity and Reduction of Health Disparities

Fred Hutch is working to address the disproportionate impact of cancer and other deadly diseases on Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and other communities of color. Together, we can identify, address and reduce health inequities — to unlock better care for patients, their families and our community as a whole. Your gift helps us turn resolve into action.

Data Science

New technologies, and the massive amounts of data they generate, are spawning entirely new discoveries about health and disease. In the center of the Seattle area’s thriving technology ecosystem, our data science specialists are creating leading-edge tools to analyze data and act on it to prevent, detect and treat cancer and other diseases. Your gift helps us make better use of vast amounts of data.

Immunotherapy

Our scientists are re-engineering immune cells to target cancers, creating personalized therapies that are curing some patients whose blood cancers resisted all other treatments. It’s exhilarating, but it’s only the beginning. We are exploring how these approaches work and why they fail, and we’re building on our success with blood cancers to create cures for patients with solid tumors, like breast, pancreatic and lung cancers. Your gift fuels a new generation of immunotherapies that could become effective, enduring treatments for patients with all types of cancers.

Patient Support Services

Life with cancer isn’t just physically difficult, but extremely challenging emotionally, psychologically and financially for patients and their families. We’re charting new paths to enhance the patient experience, reduce the symptoms and stress of cancer, and support our patients and their families along every step of the journey.

Precision Oncology

A rapidly increasing volume and variety of multi-dimensional data about individual patients and their tumors — their genetic makeup, the proteins they express, the microbiome, and more — can teach us a tremendous amount about every cancer, including how to stop it. Your gift will help us make personalized therapies, based on a patient’s biology and the unique characteristics of their cancer, the standard of care.

Viruses, Vaccines, and Infectious Disease

Fred Hutch is a global powerhouse of ideas and action to prevent and eliminate infectious diseases. We are pioneering research into how viruses evolve, protecting people with compromised immune systems, leading large-scale international trials of HIV and COVID-19 vaccines and decoding connections between microbes and cancer. Your gift helps reduce the impact of infectious disease worldwide.
