Gynecology

“My main hope when patients come to see me is that people feel heard and listened to and their conditions and concerns are taken seriously. I promise to work hard on your problems and am committed to help over the long term.”

— Dr. Pollack

What brought you to oncology and your area of practice?

For most of my career, I have been a generalist in obstetrics and gynecology. I enjoy working with patients through all stages of their lives. I have chosen to focus my practice in an area I believe is both understudied and underserved: to provide care for patients with gynecological needs after a diagnosis of cancer. I also provide the latest, most up-to-date care for other gynecologic and vulvar conditions.

What do you value about your work?

All kinds of people continue their sexual function throughout their lives, and this is an important part of living for patients through all stages. Gynecologic and vulvar conditions can cause a lot of suffering, and restoring overall health and being able to address patients’ needs is meaningful for me. Patients come to me with very private, personal concerns, and it is an honor to provide service to them and improve their quality of life.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
