Endocrinology

“Whether you live nearby or are traveling from elsewhere in the state or region, my goal is to provide personalized, compassionate care with the understanding, support and collaboration each patient deserves.”

— Dr. Tylee

What brought you to oncology and what do you value about your work?

I grew up in a small town in northern Idaho and spent much of my training working in rural communities throughout Montana, Wyoming and Alaska. These experiences gave me an appreciation for both the challenges patients face when traveling long distances for specialty care and the importance of the tight-knit communities they build.

My connections inspire how I approach medicine: I aim to create a sense of community for patients. I enjoy forming long-term relationships with my patients and their families, including being present from first diagnosis, through surgery and working with you to develop follow-up plans. I value these relationships and feel honored that people trust me to be a part of their care team and life experiences.

What do you hope it’s like for a patient to be in your care?

Medicine is never a one-size-fits-all solution, and I’m passionate about tailoring care to meet each person’s needs. It is my goal to take the time to understand each patient's experience with their condition and explore options for treatment with them. I appreciate the team approach to cancer management that we offer.

I’m also driven by the opportunity to explore new, innovative ways to manage endocrine conditions, helping patients live healthier, fuller lives. I get to play a part of their experience, from the young woman who has a successful pregnancy following thyroid cancer surgery, to the patient who was successfully treated for his neuroendocrine tumor, retired and is now traveling the world on his sailboat with his wife.

Provider Background

Area of Clinical Practice
Endocrine neoplasia, thyroid cancer

I am an endocrinologist who sees patients at the Sloan Clinic.

I am fascinated by the intricacies of hormones and how even the smallest changes can profoundly impact a person’s health and well-being. Endocrinology allows me to combine that interest with the opportunity to work closely with patients, developing personalized approaches to manage their unique symptoms and situations.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.
