Hematology-Oncology

“My goal with each patient is to make sure they feel like an informed, active participant in their personal health care journey. One of the best feelings as a health care provider is to make someone’s hardship easier.”

— Tamar

How have you been personally impacted by cancer?

My introduction to cancer was at age 20, when my mother was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. This experience shaped how I practice medicine by giving me insight into the importance of support during such a physical and emotional time. It is critical that each patient dealing with a life-changing medical event knows there is a team behind them to help navigate their new normal.

What do you hope it’s like for a patient to work with you?

I would describe my approach to patient care as engaged. My engagement with each patient is provided through active listening, clear communication and collaborative decision-making. Some of my favorite memories with patients are the times when they tell me they feel better after we have spoken and their fears of the unknown feel more manageable or not so overwhelming.

Provider Background

Area of Clinical Practice
Blood and marrow transplantation

I am a certified physician assistant who sees patients at the South Lake Union Clinic and UW Medical Center - Montlake.

I chose to specialize in oncology to make an impact on the lives of people affected by cancer using a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach. I aim to connect with patients on an emotional level and be a strong listener and communicator. I practice without judgment to make sure each patient feels seen and heard.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
