Radiation Oncology
I decided to become a physician because I wanted to help people who were facing acutely challenging medical situations. Radiation oncology suits me as a specialty because I am a very detail-oriented person, and there are many technical elements to coordinate when delivering this kind of treatment. I also really enjoy the multidisciplinary nature of this work — collaborating with so many different team members to cure cancer when possible and improve patients’ quality of life. What I enjoy most about my practice is the opportunity to support patients and families so they don’t have to face cancer alone.
As your radiation oncologist, I will share all the options for treatment with you, and together we will weigh the pros and cons of each so that you can choose the best option for you. I make myself available to answer questions, and I’m always happy to provide and discuss data to support my recommendations. While I can’t guarantee a particular outcome, I can guarantee that we will deliver you the best possible care, which I view as evidence-based, compassionate and attentive.
Brain and spinal tumors, metastatic tumors
I am a board-certified radiation oncologist who specializes in the treatment and research of cancers affecting the central nervous system, which includes the brain and spine. I also provide care for patients with metastatic tumors (cancers that have spread to various sites throughout the body). My expertise includes a variety of treatment methods, including stereotactic radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery and Gamma Knife. I am a fellow of the American College of Radiology, and I’ve published four books and more than 150 scientific articles pertaining to the field of radiation oncology.
In addition to patient care and research, I am involved in developing national clinical practice guidelines for stereotactic body radiotherapy as well as the treatment of brain and spinal tumors.
