Pulmonology

“It’s very satisfying to be able to provide patients with answers. It allows you to move forward in your medical care and be connected with the proper treatment specialists.”

— Dr. Burdis

What drew you to medicine and what do you value about your work?

I always really liked science and biology growing up; they were my favorite topics in school. I also wanted a career that involved talking to people and interacting with them. Medicine combines these two things well. I appreciate that I'm able to help people feel better with the therapies and interventions we do in our clinic.

What do you hope it’s like for a patient to work with you?

I hope my patients feel like they're able to tell me their story. But most importantly, I hope people feel listened to, and that they feel like I'm on their side.

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.
