Hematology-Oncology

Medical Oncology

“It’s a privilege to be a part of my patients’ lives, to participate in their care and to help them make the choices that are right for them.”

— Dr. Lamble

What inspired your interest in oncology?

In medical school, I found the science behind blood disorders and cancers intriguing. My interest in hematology-oncology as a career path was cemented from the moment I began working with patients and families. The rich connections I developed with people as they navigated a very difficult time was, and continues to be, very rewarding. I enjoy hearing patients’ stories about their interests, their loved ones, their wishes and their hopes for the future. Having that perspective helps me both understand and support their decisions about treatment. It’s a privilege to be a part of my patients’ lives, to participate in their care and to help them make the choices that are right for them.

What is it like to work with you?

I believe that honest, clear communication is the key to forming a treatment plan that is consistent with your needs and goals. To help you be as involved in your care as possible, I take time to get to know you and explain what’s happening medically in jargon-free language. I also believe that every patient has unique strengths, both within themselves and in their circle of family and friends. Together, we can identify and build upon those strengths to help you weather your diagnosis.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
