Hematology-Oncology

“I approach patient care with empathy, compassion and complete honesty. Patients need to know and understand any risks and potential benefits of each decision they are making.”

— Nicole

What do you hope it’s like for a patient to work with you?

I personally had to deal with a precancerous condition of the uterus that resulted in a hysterectomy. I know what it is like for physicians not to believe the symptoms or to be told it's normal to be in pain. I feel I can better empathize with people because of these experiences, and I take extra strides to make sure patients are being heard.

While it is not my place to push anyone in a certain direction, it is my role to guide them to their best choice based on their own preferences and beliefs.

Do you have a favorite memory of time with a patient you’d like to share?

I have had many positive moments with patients, but my favorites are the ones where I can heal a problem or tell a patient they are going to be just fine. I have had many patients come to me worried about a bump, lump or lesion. I love it when I can tell them a diagnosis with good treatment outcomes. Alternatively, I like when I get to tell a patient they were right to have a suspicious lump checked out, that they have treatment options available and they are not alone.

Provider Background

Area of Clinical Practice
Hematology oncology

I am a certified physician assistant who sees patients at the South Lake Union Clinic. I believe everyone should have equal access to care and treatments, and I felt it was time to take my career in a research-driven, academic direction. I would like to participate in the latest treatments and create research projects based on patient resiliency and functionality during treatment.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
