Medical Oncology

Hematology

“I approach each patient with the understanding that their experience with cancer is deeply personal and unique. I strive to listen closely, advocate for you and walk alongside you and your family through every step.”

— Dr. Kim

What brought you to oncology?

My interest in oncology began with my personal experience with cancer. During my medical training, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. My experiences with chemotherapy, scans and survivorship have helped me understand what it means to be a patient with cancer and deepened my commitment to transparency and compassion in every encounter.

Going through treatment gave me a firsthand understanding of the uncertainty, resilience and hope that define the experience. I now see it as a profound privilege to walk alongside patients and families through such vulnerable times, building relationships that extend far beyond treatment. Being part of a specialty where science is moving so quickly — and where those discoveries translate directly to patient care — is what continues to draw me to oncology every day.

What would you like patients to know about you?

I want patients to know that I see them as more than their diagnosis. They can expect me to explain treatment options clearly, listen to their concerns and advocate for them. I am dedicated to working together as a team toward the best possible outcomes. My goal is to provide care that is evidence-based and attentive not only to the disease you have, but to each individual.

Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
