Medical Oncology

“Every patient’s situation is truly unique. We work to understand each person, educate them about their disease and come up with a tailored solution.”

— Dr. Park

Do you have personal experience with cancer? How has it impacted your practice?

Like many other people, my experience began with a family member being diagnosed with and treated for cancer. In my case, it was my dad, who has now gone through cancer treatment twice. Of all the doctors we encountered, the medical oncologist was the one who stood out the most, displaying kindness, compassion and understanding that left a big impact on me. While exploring different specialties in school, I always came back to oncology because I know what it’s like as a family member to navigate some of the overwhelming steps. I wanted to offer patients and families a familiar level of empathy.

How do you approach providing patient care?

I love seeing patients in the clinic and helping people understand their disease and how we can treat it. This means making sure we get the diagnosis exactly right, a very important step for rare tumors. Part of my job is also to educate patients and their families and give clarity to the confusion they may be feeling, along with assurance and comfort that they’ve arrived at the right place and are surrounded by knowledgeable professionals who understand and can treat their condition. I am grateful to have supportive colleagues who share the common goals of making patients feel supported the minute they step in the door.

Provider Background

Area of Clinical Practice
Medical oncology, sarcoma

I am a medical oncologist who sees patients at the South Lake Union Clinic.

I treat patients with bone and soft tissue sarcomas, which are an uncommon group of cancers. For many patients who see me, this is the first time they’ve heard of this disease. I know how nerve-racking it can be to walk into a building and sit in a room waiting for the doctor. I hope patients feel like they are in a safe space where they can be honest with themselves and me about everything and that they see me as a collaborative partner willing to listen.
