Hematology-Oncology

“I like to connect with patients and get to know them and their stories. I appreciate that I get the chance to build strong relationships with patients and treat them as whole people.”

— Michelle

What do you hope it’s like for a patient to work with you?

My approach to care is patient-centered and evidence-based. I strive to always meet patients and their family members where they are and make sure they feel heard as we work together to reach their health goals. My hope is to provide a safe, empowering space while giving the best care possible.

I stress the importance of patient education and collaboration in guiding care. Health is such a personal and valuable thing, and I want to make sure each patient is getting the best and most personalized care possible.

Do you have any stories you’d like to share?

I helped take care of a resilient gentleman with end-stage pancreatic cancer. Every day, his family came to the hospital to visit him, share stories and photos and reminisce. I loved getting to learn about him from the people he loved.

Providing care is about so much more than giving someone medicine. It is about getting to know and treat patients as people.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
