Hematology-Oncology

“One of the most important things to know about me is that I am here for you in whatever way you need. I am committed to supporting you on every level and through every stage.”

— Meagan

What brought you to oncology? What do you value about your work?

Having experienced cancer within my own family, I felt a strong connection and desire to work in this field. I strive to provide care rooted in empathy and compassion, helping patients and families navigate their experience with dignity and support.

I want to understand each patient’s unique needs, so I can best assist them. The focus of my practice is to empower patients to make decisions with confidence and support.

How have you been personally impacted by cancer?

When my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer, I was the only medical professional in my family, so I found myself guiding conversations and helping to demystify medical information. This experience profoundly shaped my approach to care. I became deeply committed to making sure patients understand their diagnoses and prognosis. I also became mindful that not everyone feels comfortable asking questions. This experience reinforced the importance of autonomy, family dynamics and advocacy. I carry these lessons into my practice every day in his honor.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
