What do you value about your work?

I love to get to know patients and their families. Building strong, trusting relationships is the most important part of supporting their health. A comprehensive care approach helps patients understand their treatment plans and helps me understand what’s needed. I aim to be their source of knowledge, education and comfort. Helping someone through the most difficult time of their life brings purpose to my days.

What is your favorite memory of working with a patient?

My experiences in oncology helped to ease a patient's anxieties about establishing care with a new primary care provider. She came to me as a new patient with uncontrolled diabetes and a recent breast cancer diagnosis, and she was understandably overwhelmed with navigating the treatment cycle, surgery schedules and new medications. We were able to build a trusting relationship by focusing on what she needed in the moment for her health, both physically and mentally. Taking things step by step, she worked to control her diabetes so she could successfully undergo treatment without complications.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
