Medical Oncology

“I believe every patient deserves high-quality medical treatment and compassionate support, especially during acute illness.”

— Lily

What brought you to oncology and what do you value about your work?

Several of my grandparents and close family friends have had cancer, and some have had treatment at Fred Hutch. Beyond these personal connections, I have seen the positive impact that highly attentive providers and well-coordinated, multidisciplinary teams can have on patient care.

I see my role as being an advocate for patients and families navigating the physical and emotional challenges of illness and treatment. This includes listening to patients’ concerns and taking all necessary time to explain options so they have an informed voice.

What do you hope it’s like for a patient to work with you?

I was born and raised in a small Montana community, where I learned the value of supportive environments and close community connections. Building meaningful relationships and trust with patients and their families is necessary for high-quality care. When working with me, patients can expect kindness and a careful commitment to understanding their needs and circumstances.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
