Hematology-Oncology

“I support my patients by addressing the needs of their whole self, not just their diagnosis. My patients are always my top priority, and I approach each person with empathy and respect.”

— Lauren

How have you been personally impacted by cancer?

When my aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer, my family was distraught. The medical staff was direct, transparent, and supportive throughout her treatment. The quality of care provided to my aunt, and the compassion from each provider subdued my family’s anxiety, allowing us to be fully present with her. I strive to mirror this high level of care with my own patients.

What do you value about your work?

As a physician assistant, I consider it a privilege to support and care for patients who are going through a very challenging and vulnerable time in their life. Getting to know my patients and their families is the most rewarding part of my career. Aside from my passion for patient care, oncology is always evolving. I wanted to be a part of a medical specialty that is constantly advancing to improve patient care and quality of life.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch providers. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your provider can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes providers, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dieticians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
