Radiology

“Many people close to me have been affected by cancer. Each patient is someone’s mother, father, child, sibling, relative or friend and reminds me of the great privilege and responsibility we have as providers.”

— Dr. Jeffries

What do you value about your work?

I appreciate when I tell a patient a procedure is over and they are surprised and say it wasn't nearly as bad as they expected. In interventional radiology, we often see patients when they are understandably nervous or afraid. I make a distinct effort to explain each procedure in a clear manner so people understand what to expect, how we will make it through the process together and what will happen afterward. Interventional radiology allows me to care for patients at multiple steps along the way, from initial diagnosis to staging and through treatment, and this is very valuable to me.

How do you approach providing care to patients?

I see each patient as a unique individual, so no two procedures are the same. We interventional radiologists play an important role in cancer diagnosis, staging and therapy and work closely with many other specialties. I want patients to understand not only the goals of their procedure, but also how we intend to help and support them throughout the treatment process.
