Medical Oncology
My goal is to make sure people understand all treatment options available and for patients to have access to leading therapies and clinical trials. Considering individual preferences and wishes, we work together to create a plan that makes the most sense for each person.
A diagnosis of cancer is a life-changing event, with a huge impact on the lives of patients and their loved ones. I aim to support and guide you through this challenging time, and recognize how important it is to build trust with an oncologist.
Many incredible and exciting scientific advancements and discoveries in the field of genitourinary cancers have taken place in the last several years. Because of these advances, we are not only improving treatments but also quality of life for patients.
My research focuses on the health economics of cancer care. From my patients, I have learned that being able to receive treatment depends on many factors — some of which have nothing to do with the cancer. I study ways to improve the affordability and accessibility of cancer care and strive to improve the quality of its delivery. I continue to learn from my patients’ experiences, which drives my research and my desire to make the health care system better for patients.
Area of Clinical Practice
Genitourinary oncology
I am a physician who sees patients at the South Lake Union Clinic.
As part of the genitourinary cancer research team, I participate actively in enrolling patients in clinical trials. I study the health economics of cancer care, with the goal of making cancer care more accessible and affordable. Many patients have difficulty with access or struggle with the financial burden of their cancer care. I study the impact of these costs on cancer outcomes and aim to understand how treatments for prostate cancer contribute to financial hardship for patients.
