Medical Oncology

Gynecologic Oncology

“I'm right here with you — through the ups and downs, cheering you on and holding hope with you every step of the way. Whether you've finished treatment, are seeing good results, or are continuing therapy with strength and determination, every step forward matters.”

— Dr. Yan

How have you been personally impacted by cancer?

My experience as a caregiver for my parents during their cancer treatments gave me a deep appreciation for how personal and unique every patient is. I stayed on top of the latest treatments and clinical trials and made sure to stay closely connected with their oncologists. That experience helped me better understand what it's like to be in your shoes — the mix of hope, worry and courage it takes every day. It’s why I am committed to using the latest tools and approaches to ensure your care is truly tailored to your individual needs.

How do you approach providing patient care?

As a medical oncologist, I wear many hats — I'm also a devoted mom, wife, daughter and sister. I always strive to put myself in patients’ shoes and treat everyone with the same compassion and dedication I would offer to my own family.

Provider Background

Area of Clinical Practice
Breast oncology, gynecologic oncology

I am a medical oncologist who sees patients at the Sloan Clinic and Fred Hutch at Overlake Cancer Center.

I have a strong interest in improving women's health, which stems from my clinical training in obstetrics and gynecology in China and years of public education in women’s health through digital platforms and speaking on TV talk shows. Additionally, my internal medicine residency and hematology-oncology fellowship training in the United States, along with extensive basic lab research experience as a post-doctoral researcher, have further fueled my passion for bringing front line treatment to patients.

I currently serve as the principal investigator for several Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical research studies focused on exploring new treatment options for breast cancer and ovarian cancer.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.
