Medical Oncology

“Caring for patients with breast cancer is a great honor. I want patients to see me as a provider who is easy to communicate with and who can be counted on to understand their unique perspectives.”

— Dr. Chun

What do you hope it’s like for a patient to work with you?

It’s my job to do the medical part, which is to treat patients and their cancer safely and help them get through all the treatment that is recommended. I'm hoping I can also help patients and their loved ones understand the “why” behind these recommendations, so it feels like a partnership.

What do you value about your work?

I love practicing medicine, and I love being an oncologist. What's special about breast cancer care is we can really form long-term relationships with patients. I value helping people through times that are tough and educating them about their disease so they can live fulfilling and full lives through it.

Provider Background

Area of Clinical Practice
Breast cancer

I am a medical oncologist who sees breast cancer patients at the Sloan Clinic.

We need to understand a lot more about how and why in some cases the immune system can support an anti-cancer response, and why in other cases it doesn't. If we can understand these nuances, then we may be able to administer immune-based therapies more precisely, so that's the direction my research is taking.

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.
