Hematology-Oncology

“We have everything at our fingertips here, with research that supports each field. This helps me to be even more well-rounded while I care for patients.”

— Bridget

What brought you to oncology?

I have always had an interest in oncology and was placed in the blood and marrow transplant team when I was in graduate school. I like that it’s a blend of helping people with their medical needs while caring for them as a whole person. I appreciate that I can care for people over a relatively long time and get to know them on a personal level. We spend so much time together during the transplant process, and I don’t want it to be only about a patient’s diagnosis or disease.

What do you hope it's like for a patient to work with you?

I want all my patients to feel welcome and comfortable when they are in my care. I am interested in knowing what they enjoy, what scares them about the process and what their goals are for each day. I hope they feel secure and able to express their concerns and what they care about so I can tailor their treatment plan to them.

Provider Background

Area of Clinical Practice
Blood and marrow transplantation

I am a certified physician assistant who sees patients at the South Lake Union Clinic and UW Medical Center – Montlake.

I like getting to know patients’ interests and learning about what they enjoy so I can improve their experience. It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to lead people through the process in this innovative and ever-changing field.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
