Medical Oncology

“I hope patients see me as a teammate. I want to work together as a team to reach a positive outcome. My goal is to provide culturally competent care to each person.”

— Anju

What brought you to oncology and what do you value about your work?

Providing care as a physician assistant is my second medical career. First, I worked in sports medicine. I really enjoyed it, but I had mentors along the way who saw potential in me for greater decision-making. As I investigated options, becoming a physician assistant seemed like the perfect role for me because we provide access to care for patients at a high level and with a lot of autonomy. I appreciate collaborating with other providers and I value helping patients navigate the health care system to meet their needs. I was an intern at Fred Hutch in my 20s and being able to contribute again at this stage of my career is also very meaningful.

What would you like patients to know about you?

I want patients to know that every time they have an interaction with any medical provider, including me, we are striving to give care that is evidence-based and of the highest standard. I will use all my resources and experience to provide a high level of care, and this is something that will never be lowered. I hope every patient I encounter knows this when they see me or any of my colleagues.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
