“It is truly an honor to guide patients through cancer, even when they experience bumps in the road. My job is to help patients navigate the challenges.”

— Andrea

What do you hope it’s like for a patient to work with you?

I believe that patients are at the center of our treatment plans, and we are there to educate and guide in decision making. My hope is to help everyone feel comfortable and heard during their visit so we can create a plan to best fit their goals. I appreciate helping patients feel their best to have the highest quality of life possible.

Do you have a favorite memory of working with a patient you’d like to share?

I previously worked in inpatient oncology, and had the privilege to care for patients and families during some of their most vulnerable moments. My favorite memories include time spent at the patient's bedside – sharing photos of their family, travels and life experiences. I loved getting to know patients on a deeper level because it helped us clarify their goals for the future.

Provider Background

Area of Clinical Practice
Acute care oncology, acute clinical evaluation

I am a certified physician assistant who sees patients at the South Lake Union Clinic and UW Medical Center – Montlake.

I see a wide variety of oncology patients in the Acute Clinical Evaluation clinic. Our goal is to evaluate, treat and triage those who have urgent symptoms.

I was first exposed to oncology treatment during school. I fell in love with the patients and the multidisciplinary care model. I also appreciate that I am constantly learning with the evolving nature of cancer care.

There are many layers to providing excellent care, and I believe that it’s crucial to work as a team to address patients as whole people. With cancer care constantly evolving, it’s important to stay on top of the latest treatment options.

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
