Reconstructive Surgery

“I understand that a cancer diagnosis deeply affects every aspect of a person’s life. It is important to consider all factors and treat the whole patient, not only their disease.”

— Dr. Bae

How have you been personally impacted by cancer?

I have had loved ones affected by cancer. Even with my medical background, the complexity of the experience was quite overwhelming. The emotional impact it has on the patient and each member of their family and community is significant. I wanted to be involved in cancer care to guide patients through their experience and help them move forward.

What do you hope it’s like for a patient to be in your care?

My approach to care is collaborative and centered on each patient. The most important thing to me is to listen to each patient’s concerns so I can understand their goals. Then, we can work in partnership to decide what treatment works best for them. My role is to use evidence-based medicine and my clinical expertise to help guide each patient’s care. I believe this is how we arrive at the best outcomes.

I was drawn to plastic surgery because it requires a creative, personalized and thoughtful approach to help each patient regain form and function. Patients can return to their lives and feel whole again after their experience with cancer.
