Dr. Levine is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer.

Head and neck cancer, thoracic cancers

“I believe every patient's values and goals should guide treatment decisions. My role is to provide clear, up-to-date information, answer questions honestly and help you and your family feel confident in the choices you make.”

— Dr. Levine

What is your approach to patient care?

I will always take the time to listen, answer questions and understand what matters most to you. Every person has different priorities that should be reflected in their treatment plan. I am committed to staying current on the latest advances in cancer care, so patients have access to the best available information when making important decisions.

Every patient story is unique because every person brings a unique value system and individual goals to their experience with cancer. Some of my favorite moments are when patients can reach important personal milestones despite their cancer diagnosis, such as taking a long-awaited vacation, attending a family member’s graduation or celebrating a wedding. These moments remind me that our goal is not only to treat cancer, but also to help people continue living in the way that matters most to them.

While there are many uncertainties that come with a cancer diagnosis, I hope to lessen the burden by serving as a trusted partner throughout your care.

What brought you to oncology?

I decided to become a medical oncologist so I can help patients navigate the complexities of cancer care while continuing to perform scientific research. During my residency, my mother was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer. Experiencing cancer from the perspective of a family member reinforced my commitment to oncology and inspired me to specialize in thoracic cancers, where I can combine compassionate patient care with research that advances new treatments.

Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.
