Dr. Maryam Ebadi is a radiation oncologist and researcher at Fred Hutch who cares for patients with hematologic malignancies, leptomeningeal metastases and colorectal cancer and researches these diseases.

Dr. Ebadi cares for patients with hematologic malignancies, including leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma. She also sees patients with leptomeningeal metastases and colorectal cancer.

What do you value about your work?

I am deeply committed to advancing the care of patients with cancer through both clinical practice and research, with the goal of improving outcomes and quality of life. I enjoy taking care of people with cancer as much as I enjoy cancer research. I appreciate seeing patients and knowing I’m having an impact on their lives by helping them go through this challenging journey. Curing patients of their cancer is highly rewarding. The same is true with research. It brings me satisfaction to study cancer and know that through clinical trials and translational research, we can change things for the better.

What brought you to oncology?

I learned the meaning of cancer when I was a teenager. I thought it was very intriguing, and I knew oncology was the field I would focus on in the future. That's why I went to medical school, where I developed a passion for treating patients with cancer. I love caring for patients and conducting research at the same time to improve clinical outcomes.
