SEATTLE — November 28, 2016 — Physicians and researchers from Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) have been awarded grants from Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) funds raised by the 2016 Pink Boat Regatta, the largest independent fundraiser in the nation supporting the BCRF. Since the first race in 2012, the Pink Boat Regatta has raised more than $320,000 for local breast cancer research.
“The Pink Boat Regatta provides funds for the incredible research happening at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Because of them, we are one step closer to finding a cure for breast cancer,” said Dr. Julie Gralow, emcee of the Pink Boat Regatta and director of Breast Medical Oncology at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
This year’s Pink Boat Regatta raised $103,000 for grants to innovative breast cancer researchers, including six connected to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance through its affiliations with Fred Hutch and UW Medicine:
“The Pink Boat Regatta is proud to partner with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation to support continued advancements in breast cancer research at a local level,” said Ashely Bell, president of the Pink Boat Regatta.
The 2017 Pink Boat Regattas will be held in Bellingham on August 27, 2017 and in Seattle on September 9, 2017. For more information, or to register, visit www.pinkboatregatta.org.
