Our education programs will accept applications, with the understanding that the final format of the programs will depend upon an evidenced-based understanding of the risk posed by COVID-19. If possible, the programs will run as expected and described. However, given the pandemic, the format of the programs may be virtual, or a hybrid of virtual and on-campus. The duration of our programs may also be impacted. We will provide updates as more information becomes available closer to the program start dates.
All students participating in a summer program or internship at Fred Hutch must be fully vaccinated* against COVID-19, and agree to follow all COVID-19 safety guidelines while on campus. Proof of vaccination will be required.
*Please note that only the primary series of a COVID-19 vaccine is required; booster vaccines are not required at this time.
We offer paid internships for graduate students, undergraduates and high school students throughout our organization. Each internship program offers valuable learning opportunities that support academic and career goals.
For high school students who are interested in science, hands-on experience alongside pioneering researchers in biological sciences, bone marrow and stem cell transplantation, cancer prevention, epidemiology and biostatistics can be life-changing. Many of our past interns have gone on to pursue rewarding careers in biomedical research and medicine.
Our internships for graduate students provide experience, mentorship from Fred Hutch scientists and career planning guidance.
The Partnership for the Advancement of Cancer Research (PACR) offers internship opportunities for New Mexico State University undergraduate and graduate students to conduct independent research projects at Fred Hutch. Visit the PACR webpage for more information about the Cancer Research Internship for NMSU Undergraduates (CRI-U) and the Cancer Research Internship for NMSU Graduate Students (CRI-G).
At Fred Hutch, we rely on a wide array of scientific and non-scientific staff in our quest to save lives and advance knowledge. In addition to the programs above, individual research labs and administrative departments (e.g. Research Administration, Environmental Health & Safety) may offer internships throughout the year, which you can search for on our careers page. Current undergraduates and recent graduates can search our careers page for work study and paid positions in your area of interest and which fit your experience level.
