How have you been personally impacted by cancer?

Like many, I have watched my own family members and friends navigate the complexity and sometimes all-consuming nature of this condition. Even for those of us who care for patients with cancer every day, seeing people you love cope with this illness is a unique experience. It has instilled a level of compassion and understanding in my approach to patient care that I would hope to see for my own loved ones.

How do you approach providing patient care?

Due to the nature of the conditions our team works together to treat, I have the privilege of developing long-term relationships with my patients. Building trust, transparency and understanding, as well as encouraging patients to ask questions about their own care and what to expect, are integral parts of my approach to patient care.

I am passionate about providing holistic, multifaceted and individualized care in the context of complex chronic disease and the challenges faced by patients and their families. Many patients may have similar conditions. However, their history, presentation, personal concerns and goals of care are distinct, and I care deeply about understanding these nuances. I appreciate working closely with a multidisciplinary team and providing individualized, evidence-based care.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.

Your Care Team

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes physicians, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like registered dietitians, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.

Insurance

Fred Hutch accepts most national private health insurance plans as well as Medicare. We also accept Medicaid for people from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. We are working to ensure that everyone, no matter what their financial situation, has access to the care they need.
