About

Dr. Cody Schopf is a board-certified radiologist who cares for patients with breast concerns and breast cancer at Fred Hutch.

Area of Clinical Practice
Breast imaging

“I see you as a person first, not images on a screen. I chose breast imaging because it allows me to be present during what can be a frightening and uncertain time, and I take the trust that it requires seriously.”

— Dr. Schopf

What drew you to your area of practice and how have you been personally impacted by cancer?

I went into breast imaging for the direct patient engagement and continuity of care it offers. I appreciate being there through diagnosis and the follow-up that can shape a patient's outcome. Whether I'm delivering reassuring news or walking someone through a difficult diagnosis, my goal is the same: to make sure you feel informed and supported in the process.

Several of my family members have had cancer, so I've seen firsthand how deeply it affects both patients and the people who love them. These are some of the most difficult and vulnerable times in a person's life, and the care you receive from your medical team can make a world of difference. That understanding shapes how I approach my own patients, recognizing that behind every image and procedure is a person navigating some of the hardest moments they may ever face.

How do you approach providing patient care?

My approach to care starts with the most current research, so you can trust the recommendations you hear. I see our time together as a chance for you to understand your care and feel like a real part of it. In the end, I want our decisions to reflect both what the evidence supports and what matters most to each patient.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.
