“My goal is to help patients fulfill their aspirations. I look forward to learning about each patient as a person and developing a strong, lasting relationship.”

— Dr. Wu

What brought you to oncology and your areas of expertise?

Melanoma once had a grim prognosis, but is now often curable using immunotherapy — even in advanced disease. Similarly, immunotherapy has also revolutionized treatment for kidney cancer. We can now deliver personalized care for patients based on their genomic profile. As a physician, it’s my responsibility to offer patients the best treatment possible while minimizing toxicity. Melanoma and kidney cancer are at the forefront of this area of medicine, and I am excited to play a part in providing truly personalized care.

What do you value about your work?

I was born in Taiwan and moved to Massachusetts when I was 10. My family in the U.S. consisted of my sister, my dad and me. As an immigrant family in a single parent household, I appreciate how hard it was to start a new life, and how fortunate I am to do what I do today.

I honor my family through what I do. It is an absolute privilege and responsibility to practice medicine and care for others, and I will never take this for granted.

Provider Background

Area of Clinical Practice
Melanoma, renal cell carcinoma

I am a hematologist and medical oncologist who sees patients at the Sloan Clinic.

‘What could I have done to prevent this cancer?’ is one of the hardest questions patients ask me. The truth is they did nothing wrong, and life can be just as beautiful as it is cruel. Cancer is a life-changing diagnosis.

Clinical Trials

We make promising new treatments available to you through studies called clinical trials led by Fred Hutch physicians. Many of these trials at Fred Hutch have led to FDA-approved treatments and have improved standards of care globally. Together, you and your physician can decide if a study is right for you.
