Dr. Eshana Shah is a board-certified physician and researcher at Fred Hutch who focuses on blood cancers while studying how health disparities affect patient experiences, outcomes and access to immunotherapy and blood and marrow transplant care.

Background

Dr. Shah studies how health disparities — from individual to community factors — influence outcomes for people with blood cancers. Her work examines survival and treatment related complications, and she also interviews patients to understand their experiences and challenges during and after care. This patient centered approach helps clarify how barriers such as access, resources and support affect care delivery and results. Her goal is to identify points for intervention and design programs that improve equity in blood cancer treatment.
