What do you value about your work?

I love talking to people. I like meeting patients and hearing about who you are and how you live your life. I like speaking honestly and making genuine connections. Similarly, I enjoy my coworkers in the operating room and the clinic. I also love teaching and working with residents and fellows. I wholeheartedly subscribe to the academic model of medicine with all parties participating in a bigger cause.

What do you hope it’s like for a patient to work with you?

I want them to feel listened to and that I see them for who they are — the whole person. I truly want patients to have the best possible experience. I find that people are incredibly brave. Oftentimes, we will see the best in people when they’re going through difficult times. I want to reflect this back to patients.
