Dr. Jessica Fagerstrom is a medical physicist and educator dedicated to advancing both clinical practice and medical physics education. Her clinical career has spanned various roles, including quality assurance, commissioning and radiation therapy. Dr. Fagerstrom has also designed and led educational programs at various student levels, from middle school to professional medical physicists.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin with a doctorate in medical physics, Dr. Fagerstrom completed a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction for science education at the University of Washington. She is passionate about shifting the traditional teacher-centered model of education toward one that enables students to take ownership of their learning. She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and is board-certified in therapeutic medical physics by the American Board of Radiology. She is a member of the American Association of Physics Teachers, the American Association of Physicists in Medicine and is the current Northwest American Association of Physicists in Medicine chapter president.
