Background

Dr. Christopher Kemp works to make the promise of precision oncology a reality. His goal is to develop targeted therapies — treatments that not only target a specific individual’s tumors, but that target tumors while sparing healthy tissue. He and his team have developed an approach to identify the next generation of precision cancer therapeutics that draws on patient tumor samples. It integrates molecular information from tumor genomics with cancer cell’s sensitivity to potential drugs. The team is applying the strategy to cancers including pancreatic, ovarian, breast, and head and neck cancer. Dr. Kemp is a member of the Cancer Target Discovery and Development Network, a multi-institutional collaborative effort designed to bridge the knowledge gap between cancer genomics and precision oncology.
