“We have made a lot of advances in terms of research, vaccines, screening and treatments, but there is still much to be done. Until all cancers can be cured, I will be caring for and supporting my patients.”

— Daryl

What brought you to oncology?

I lost a good friend to metastatic colon cancer. She was one of the most incredible people I have ever known. Losing her was a major reason I wanted to work with patients affected by cancer.

Why should a patient trust Fred Hutch for care?

Navigating cancer treatment can be challenging. We are here to help make this process a bit easier for patients and their families, with compassion at the core of everything we do. I want patients to know that when we work together, I will fully respect their preferences, values and personal experiences. Patients are the experts on their bodies and their experience of illness, and I see my role as serving as an advisor.

Provider Background

Oncology, solid tumors, hematological cancers
I am an advanced registered nurse practitioner who sees patients at the South Lake Union Clinic.

After working in stem cell apheresis, I was so impressed by the selflessness of people going out of their way to help patients affected by cancer. Donors come from other states and sometimes other countries, giving their time and enduring discomfort from medical treatment, to donate their stem cells to individuals they have never met.

At Fred Hutch, you receive care from a team of providers with extensive experience in your disease. Your team includes doctors, a patient care coordinator, a registered nurse, an advanced practice provider and others, based on your needs. You also have access to experts like nutritionists, social workers, acupuncturists, psychiatrists and more who specialize in supporting people with cancer or blood disorders.
