UW/Fred Hutch is the home of the Pacific Northwest Prostate Cancer Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE), one of eight Prostate Cancer SPOREs in the nation and is a member of CDMRP Clinical Trials Consortium. Urothelial / bladder cancer research is also very robust with numerous clinical trials, some of which have been practice-changing (resulting in FDA approvals), a rigorous, funded translational research infrastructure, and a highly interactive, inter/multidisciplinary approach in patient care. This position would have an annual service period of 12 months [July 1-June 30]. The primary appointment will be in the Translational Science & Therapeutics Division of Fred Hutch.

We seek candidates with expertise in hematopathology and molecular pathology and with interest and experience in pathology related to stem cell transplant and immunotherapy. Based on the qualifications, this position could entail a leadership role as medical director of a laboratory location. The person may also have an opportunity to participate in deep immunophenotyping and cell sorting for genomic investigations. The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member specializing in research and clinical care of patients with sarcoma. The position will be dual appointed with a primary faculty appointment in the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and a secondary appointment in the UW Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology. The position will report to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and the Division Head of Hematology and Oncology. The position will be at the assistant or associate professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT), commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing clinical and laboratory research programs related to the biology and treatment of sarcoma. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity and resources to develop their own clinical research program. The position will also involve participation in the clinical and instructional activities of the Clinical Research Division and the Division of Hematology and Oncology. Fred Hutch and UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

The successful candidate will be appointed in the Clinician Scholar track and will spend approximately 50% of time on clinical care. The remainder of the incumbent’s time will be protected for research, teaching, and mentorship.

This position will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level commensurate with experience and qualifications in the Clinical Research Division of the Fred Hutch and the Division of Hematology and Oncology at UW.

Fred Hutch and UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. The position will focus primarily on ambulatory clinical care of patients with skin and kidney cancers at a world-renowned comprehensive cancer center. The Renal Melanoma group is committed to providing outstanding patient care, through cutting edge research trials with a strong focus on immunotherapy, to patients with melanoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, other non-melanoma skin cancers, and kidney cancers. The position may also involve participation in the administrative, research, and instructional activities of the Clinical Research Division. Teaching responsibilities involve oversight of trainees during outpatient and inpatient clinical activities, and lectures. Applicants must have:

• MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent)
• Completion of a fellowship in Medical Oncology or Hematology/Oncology and American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) eligible or certified in Medical Oncology (or foreign equivalent)
• Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Washington.

 The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record in clinical care with a primary focus on renal melanoma.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $306,000.00 to $315,000.00 for faculty hired at the Clinical Assistant Professor rank, from $340,000.00 to $350,000.00 for faculty hired at the Clinical Associate Professor rank, and from $374,000.00 to $385,000.00 for faculty hired at the Clinical Professor rank. This position is incentive eligible. Pay for Faculty positions is based on a variety of factors, including degree, specialty, clinical practice and experience. This position is eligible for relocation assistance and/or sign-on bonus.

The successful candidate is expected to: i) lead Fred Hutch’s Sarcoma Clinical research operations and ii) galvanize multi-disciplinary translational research within Fred Hutch. The successful candidate will enter a vibrant and dynamic research environment with an opportunity to lead and to collaborate with basic, translational, public health, and clinical sarcoma researchers across diverse disciplines. The position will report to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of the CRD at Fred Hutch and appropriate Division Head and/or Department Chair at the UW.

We are seeking a highly motivated, visionary and accomplished scientific and clinical leader to head the Lung Cancer Program at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center. The Program Head will oversee and strategically guide the Lung Cancer Program, ensuring alignment with the institution's mission and goals. They will develop and implement a comprehensive vision and strategy for the Lung Cancer Program, integrating basic, translational and clinical research with clinical care, while promoting education and mentorship. The incumbent will lead and/or support groundbreaking research initiatives in lung cancer, including preclinical studies, clinical trials, and translational research and will foster collaborations with bench researchers, translational researchers and clinical investigators at UW and Fred Hutch. The incumbent will serve as an academic, clinical and educational leader charged with organizing, directing and expanding the research efforts for an established team of clinical researchers involved in conducting clinical research and clinical trials in lung cancer. Responsibilities include assisting with faculty recruitment as well as oversight and mentorship of faculty, promotion of professional development for team members and representation of the Lung Cancer Program at national and international conferences, workshops, and symposia. The incumbent will build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including industry partners, regulatory agencies, and funding organizations.

Competitive candidates will have an international reputation of leadership in both lung cancer research and clinical excellence. They will have a long-standing track record of substantial basic, translational and/or clinical research with consistent primary author high-impact publications and/or grant funding.

Appointment at Fred Hutch would be at the rank of associate or full professor in the Clinical Research Division. Appointment to the full-time faculty at the UW would be at the rank of associate or full professor. Academic appointments at the University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. The position will be dual appointed with a primary faculty appointment in the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and a secondary appointment in one of the following UW departments: Medicine, Family Medicine, Anesthesiology, Rehabilitation Medicine, or Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences (departmental appointment will be selected depending on qualifications). The incumbent will provide strategic leadership with a strong vision to grow and galvanize the Fred Hutch Palliative Care Program. The Program Head will contribute to our mission of delivering outstanding clinical care and developing excellence in research in the area of Palliative Care. This program will complement and interface with the University of Washington Palliative Care Program which provides palliative services to patients with or without cancer-related diagnoses. The successful candidate will serve as an academic, clinical and educational leader charged with organizing, directing and expanding the clinical and research efforts for an established multidisciplinary team of palliative care clinicians and researchers. Responsibilities include faculty recruitment, oversight and mentorship of palliative care faculty and trainees on the palliative care service, participation in faculty appointments and promotions alongside the SVP, and oversight of clinical care delivery on the palliative care service.

The remainder of the incumbent’s time will be protected for administrative oversight of the Fred Hutch Palliative Care clinical and research programs, teaching and mentorship, for the first three years, after which, the incumbent would be expected to cover at least half of their salary each year through grants, contracts, or clinical work. Teaching responsibilities will involve oversight of advanced practice providers, fellows, and residents during inpatient and outpatient rotations, and delivery of informal teaching sessions and formal lectures to learners, providers and the general medical community.

Associate Professor or Professor, CS, Phase I/Developmental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Program Head

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) invite nominations and applications to lead the Phase I Developmental Therapeutics clinical trials program. The position will be dual appointed with a primary faculty appointment in the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and a secondary appointment in the UW Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology. The position will report to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and the Division Head of Hematology and Oncology at the UW.

We seek a visionary leader to head our Phase I Developmental Therapeutics Program, focusing on innovative therapies to provide hope and healing to cancer patients. This Program Head will lead and oversee the development and execution of early-phase clinical trials for novel cancer therapies. This role is crucial in translating groundbreaking research into clinical practice, ensuring the safe and efficient evaluation of new treatments. The successful candidate will partner with leaders of the Fred Hutch immunotherapy integrated research center and cell-based therapy team to develop and execute an institutional early phase trial strategy. The Program Head will foster strong collaborations with translational researchers and clinical investigators at UW and Fred Hutch and will forge partnerships with biotech and pharmaceutical industry partners to grow the phase I program assets and advance our mission of delivering transformative cancer therapies to our patients.

The Program Head’s overall responsibility will be to maintain and expand our Phase 1 clinical trials program in collaboration with our immune therapy and cell-based therapy teams. Specific tasks will include (1) providing leadership in designing, implementing, and managing early-phase clinical trials; (2) working on a team to oversee appropriate selection and placement of phase I trials (3) coordinating the infrastructure needed for optimal implementation of phase I studies, including research nurses, data coordinators, regulatory affairs, tissue acquisition, and biostatistical support; (4) working with medical oncology and other faculty to assure patient accrual to studies; (5) direct care of a portion of the study patients in addition to the faculty member’s standard of care patients; and (6) outreach to community oncology providers to enhance access to Phase 1 trials. The candidate may also specialize in the treatment of a cancer subtype, in which case they could maintain a subspecialty clinic that is separate from their role as the Phase I Program Head. The incumbent will serve as an academic, clinical and educational leader charged with organizing, directing and expanding the research efforts for an established team of clinical researchers involved in conducting phase I trials. Responsibilities include assisting with faculty recruitment as well as oversight and mentorship of faculty leading Phase I trials.
