A misty morning gave way to sunny skies and stellar fundraising totals for the 32nd annual Shore Run/Walk Sunday, June 28.
Through family friendly run and walk events that wound along the shore of Lake Washington, more than 2,110 participants raised more than $148,600 for immunotherapy research at the Hutchinson Center.
For the fourth year in a row the top team (at $44,837) was “Love Your Shade with Team GG,” walking in honor of the late Gretchen Whiting, longtime Center supporter and melanoma patient who received immunotherapy treatments through the Yee Lab. Whiting died in May, but dedicated friends and relatives carry on her efforts in regard to educating the public about melanoma and increasing funding for cancer research.
Spectators and participants honored Whiting and others with personal tribute signs posted along the walk/run course. The event ended with a party in Madison Park with live music, food, awards and drawings for prizes donated by local merchants.
Every dollar counts. Please support lifesaving research today.
