Paulovich co-leads proteomics research center

Hutchinson Center and Broad Institute team will receive $9 million from NCI to search for protein biomarkers of cancer

The National Cancer Institute last week announced that a team co-led by Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the Broad Institute in Cambridge, Mass., has been selected to participate in the Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium, or CPTAC.

Improving biomarker development to improve patient outcomes

Amanda Paulovich and colleagues find proof-of-concept study of biomarker development provides roadmap for similar approach in humans

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center researchers have demonstrated in mice that the performance of a novel biomarker-development pipeline using targeted mass spectrometry is robust enough to support the use of an analogous approach in humans. The findings, by principal investigator Dr. Amanda Paulovich of the Clinical Research Division, were published online June 19 in Nature Biotechnology.

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Clinical Research Division’s Dr. Mandy Paulovich has received $4.8 million in federal stimulus funding from the National Cancer Institute to co-lead a pilot study to assess the feasibility and scalability of a project that aims to measure all of the proteins in the human body.
