Functions of the Internal Advisory Committee (IAC)

The IAC has a number of functions and responsibilities; its major function is to ensure that the goals and objectives of the entire Fred Hutch/NMSU collaboration are being met.  Responsibilities other than those listed below may be defined by the IAC in the course of future meetings and deliberations.  The IAC will maintain close contact with the NCI program officer throughout its deliberations.

  1. Review each project and its contribution to the overall collaboration goals.
  2. Review the progress of each project.  
  3. Decide to close projects.
  4. Develop general closure rules for completed pre-pilot project, pilot projects, full projects, and programs.  
  5. Develop general closure rules and processes for projects before initial time period of the project lapses. 
  6. Preparation of report to institutional leadership.
  7. Review of the resources and infrastructure needed by each project 
  8. Arrange for review of new pre-pilot projects, pilot projects, full projects, and programs. 
  9. Decide on workshops, retreats, and seminars.

Conflict Resolution

Conflicts that develop among investigators supported by the U54 award will be referred to the IAC.  The committee will refer to each institution’s conflict resolution protocol when assessing the issue.  Any decisions or recommendations will be made with NCI and the Program Steering Committee (PSC).
